Altovise has always had a heart for giving back to her community.
After cancer, she took a break from cosmetology, to raise her children.
She opened a dance school at An Open Door Church. It ran successfully for 3 years. At the time she wanted to expand, but her home she and husband were building through Habitat for Community, was burned down, due to a hate crime. They were devastated. Altovise and her family gained national attention due to this tragedy. Even though nothing was done, their faith kept them.
Altovise became involved in every aspect of her children's lives. At their school she was apart of the P.T.A. and eventually became a Title One parent liason. She facilitated numerous programs for parent engagement.
Altovise received numerous awards from the Gary Community School Corporation including The Distinguished Parent Award in 2008-2009.
Altovise received the Woman of Wonder Award from God First Ministries under the leadership if Dr. Mildred C. Harris.
Altovise Ferguson served at An Open Door church for 10 years under the leadership of Drs. Meredith and Marilyn Shackelford.
In 2012, she was ordained as deaconess at Embassies of Christ Kingdom Ministries under the leadership of the late Dr. Cedric and Joyce Oliver . Altovise served as a worship leader, youth leader, and arts ministry. She started their first dance ministry.
Altovise began serving children with the Institute Of Leadership And Performance summer enrichment program in 2016. As a result several students have went on to pursue higher education and a career in the arts.
In 2020, during the pandemic Altovise began serving as a mentor with the America's Big Sister program under the leadership of Dr. Tragil Wade.
She was honored in 2021 and 2022 for her service.
Altovise currently continues her service with Victory 4 Kidz summer enrichment program.
Altovise held her first "Live To Win " walk, to honor a cancer survivor. Also to bring awareness to blood cancers. She was able to raise a substantial amount to help aid families. Altovise along with her oncologist partnered together to do cancer survivorship days. This was to encourage and give hope to those in the fight.
In 2019, she held her first conference "The Courage To Continue ". She honored a tar syndrome survivor, who needed multiple surgical procedures. All proceeds went to the family. The young lady is now in her first year of college.
Due to Altovise's love and passion for the arts her children were exposed at early age to what a world as creative looked like. Together, she and her children have shared the stage in numerous productions & local films.
After realizing her son Ahmad's God giving gift and his discovery at an open call she assumed the position as his momager. Since then, his television credits include NBC 's "Chicago P.D," Fox's show"APB," the Showtime series, "Shameless", "Chicago Fire" and the Netflix movie, "Beats."
He has also be featured as the voice of "Ben" on the Hulu series: PEN15 .
Today, Ahmad's most current roles are "Bakari" on the Showtime series "The Chi" and " Marshall Cranon" on the Starz hit series" Power Book IV-Force".
Her daughter, is a music artist, content creator and actress. After graduating from Alcorn State University fall of 2019, during the pandemic, Amari Noelle created over 150 songs on her iPhone using her apple headphones. She went on to land a distribution deal with MPR Global & become apart of YouTube's Foundry class of 2022. Amari Noelle's debut album was very successful. Her single "Unusual " was featured on BET JAMS ,which landed her a tour with artist Kaash Paige.
In 2022, Amari Noelle added professional actress to her resume co starring as "Britney" on the" Chi ".
